Panel Discussion
Description
This panel discussion explores the enduring challenge of translating leadership theory and research into meaningful, actionable practice within educational and organizational settings. Featuring author Dr. David Brazer, EdD in Organizational Leadership Program Chair Dr. Rachel Althof, and doctoral students Morgan McDermott and Kaitlin Wyckoff, the session centers on Brazer’s work Leading Schools to Learn, Grow, and Thrive and the broader question of how scholar-practitioners move from conceptual frameworks to day-to-day leadership decisions. The session will begin with a brief framing by the author, followed by a facilitated dialogue and audience Q&A. Panelists and moderators will examine the strengths and limits of theory, the gap between research and implementation, and the skills leaders need to apply evidence-informed practices in complex institutional contexts. Designed to be inquiry driven and accessible across disciplines, the discussion emphasizes reflective practice, leadership preparation, and applied scholarship.
